• The particle へ (he)
The particle へ is placed before the verbs ikimasu (to go), kimasu (to come) and kaerimasu (to return or to be back from somewhere) when these are preceded by a location or by どこ (where).
Caution: as a particle, へ is pronounced e “ey” as in survey and not “hay”.
どこへ行きますか。 Where are you going? |
いつ家へ来ますか。(家
= maison / chez soi) When are you coming to my house? |
• The particle に (ni)
The particle に corresponds in English to "at" in a temporal expression (at what time/at five o’clock?)
明日、何時に来ますか。 Tomorrow, at what time are you coming? |
明日何時に家へ来ますか。 Tomorrow, at what time are you coming to the house? |
• Recall 何:
we have previously seen that kanji means "nani"
(what). It can also mean "nan"
(Which/ what). The difference is that, contrary to nani,
nan is not followed bi the particle を (o).
今、何時。 What time is it? (now) |
何をしましたか。 What are you doing? |
